Rings in the sands

Written for Wai Ching ( Dance), Amit ( drum) and Samuel ( Pi Pa) in
the performance for Poetry slam @ Union Square, Singapore
Wai Ching (肚皮舞belly dance), Amit (中东手鼓drum) and Samuel (中国琵琶Pi Pa)
for Poetry Slam, Singapore

Veils, floating veils,
flew in the silent and frozen air,
red, soft, and full of the sight.
Her ethereal movements in the weak light,
concealed the mystery of this desert.
The prelude was sung by the solo dancer's moves,
so remote, so lonely, so vague…
till she steamed up the ancient glory,
in her deep and enchanting eyes!

Listen, the drum beat up from the distant middle east;
listen, the Pi Pa cords told the seasons of Yellow River,
and the dancer, bridged the frontiers in her fluctuations.
The ages of sands flew from her finger tips.
The restrained grace of middle east glowed in her embrace.
The flashes of joining the east civilizations,
blossomed surrounding her steps!

In her veils,
in her moves,
in her deep eyes,
danced a world, that was lost thousands of years ago.
The laughs of the tradesmen,
mingled with the swift rings of the camel bells.
The sands of the silk road were immersed underneath,
the illusional sea and towers in the sun!
Drums beats and Pi pa cords, splashed,
the shower of dews into the sands,
through her veils.
